Reviving history: how AI transforms old photos into videos
Lately, I received questions about how AI can animate old photos and turn them into videos. To demonstrate this, I used photos from Afghanistan taken before the war. Here’s a simple breakdown of the steps I took:
- Make Pictures Clearer: First, I used AI to improve the resolution of the images. This made the photos sharper and more detailed, which is important for good quality.
- Add Color: Next, I used AI to add color to the black-and-white images. Adding color helps bring the photos to life and makes it easier for viewers to connect with the people and places in them.
- Create a Video: Finally, I turned the enhanced and colorized images into a video using AI. This allows the photos to tell a story in a more engaging way.
Since these pictures are shared widely online, I can’t find original sources to credit them in this post. I want to stress that this video is for educational purposes only, and I am not using any images for commercial gain or distribution.
You can see the results in the attached video. The entire video took about 10 minutes to create! 😁
I hope this inspires others to explore how AI can help preserve and animate our historical memories. In case you have any questions, add your comment below.
